The law of attraction is the name given to the belief that “like attracts like”. By focusing on positive thoughts, you bring about positive results, by focusing on negative thoughts you bring about negative results.

It really is this simple. One of my favorite quotes comes from Earl Nightingale “Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become reality.”

What beliefs and thoughts are prevailing in your subconscious mind and how are they serving you today?

This week we celebrate Valentine’s Day, and while some may brush it off as a “Hallmark Holiday” it does provide us a wonderful opportunity to celebrate love that exists in our lives.

This Valentine’s Day, I’d like you to celebrate a love that you probably haven’t celebrated before; Self-Love! You see, when we love “all” of our self, not just the good parts, but the parts of ourselves that are impatient, judgmental or harsh; we lovingly accept who we are. We become aware of our thoughts and the beliefs that may be residing in our mind. When this occurs, we can choose to change our thought patterns, choose love and choose happiness.

Regardless of age, race, or sex, people criticize themselves hundreds of times a day. It often begins as a morning ritual. Thoughts like “I look awful in this outfit”, “I am fat”, “How could anyone love me?”, “I wish I were thinner, stronger, happier, healthier, a better parent, a better spouse…” and on and on. These negative messages feed us negative results; these words feed guilt, sadness, feelings of unworthiness and more. We lose our ability to love ourselves, and when we can no longer love ourselves, it becomes challenging for others to do so as well. We attract whatever we fuel our minds with. If you’re down on yourself, unhappy and frustrated, you’ll attract this right into your life.

Not one person would ever consciously choose to treat themselves this way. It is our conditioning and our programmed subconscious mind driving these thoughts that do not serve us. The beautiful gift that each of us holds is that we have the ability to change these patterns and create a positive, loving relationship with our self.

On Valentine’s Day, and every day I want you to shut out the negative thoughts that play like a broken record in your mind. Acknowledge that they’re there by saying (mentally or aloud) “I hear you, but you no longer serve me.” Then, replace the negative thoughst with a positive ones. These positive thoughts must be affirmations, meaning you state it as if you already have achieved it, or as if it’s already present in your life. “I am strong.” “I am beautiful.” “I am capable.” “I am worthy.” “I am healthy.”

“Whatever we plant in our subconscious mind and nourish with repetition and emotion will one day become reality.” -Earl Nightingale

Nourish your mind with positive thoughts and positive emotions. You hold the key to your health and happiness. It takes time; your subconscious mind has been programmed for many years, beginning in childhood. Know that it’s worth it, you are worth the effort and once you choose to love yourself fully, doors will open and you’ll be amazed at all this world has to offer you.

I celebrate each of you today; you are bright, amazing, and divinely one-of-a-kind! Please take time to celebrate YOU too!

It’s my great pleasure to serve and support you in health and happiness. I’d love to hear from you; feel free to connect with me: connect@angelagaffney.com

RECIPE:

Dark Chocolate Chip Oat Cookies

Ingredients:

1/2 cup unsalted butter
2-1/4 cups gluten free flour blend
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 -1/4 cups gluten free oats
1/2 cup coconut oil
3/4 cup coconut palm sugar
1/4 cup agave syrup
2 eggs, plus 1 egg white
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup dark chocolate chips

Additional options: 1/2 cup chopped nuts of your choice. replace chocolate chips with 1 cup of Craisins or any other dried fruit and 1/2 tsp of cinnamon

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350°F. In an electric mixer, cream butter and coconut oil with coconut palm sugar and agave nectar until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and blend. Add eggs one at a time and beat until incorporated. Add GF flour, salt and baking soda; mix to incorporate. Add GF oats and dark chocolate chips; fold into the cookie batter. Add any optional ingredients at this time and fold into the batter. Using a teaspoon, drop cookie dough onto a parchment lined baking sheet, allowing lots of spreading room (only 6-8 cookies at a time). Bake until golden brown, for approximately 9-12 minutes. Once cooled, store in an airtight container at room temperature. These cookies also freeze well if you’d like to make them ahead of time for an event.

Recipe compliments of “The Daily Essential Cookbook Collection: Lunch” by Angela Gaffney & Janielle Hultberg
